CBM started work in China in 1987 initially with the focus on prevention of blindness. CBM is working towards Disability and Inclusive Development in all CBM supported development programmes such as Medical Eye Care, CBR and Special Education.

What we do

CBM works with other International Non-Governmental Organisations to assist the Ministry of Health in the Prevention of Blindness Initiative (VISION2020) through Health Departments at different levels. Also, working with the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) to assist development of National Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Programme.

CBM supports capacity building for Disabled Peoples Federation managers on Disability and & Inclusive Development, CBR concepts, CBR management, skill training. Capacity development for hospitals on the Prevention of Blindness (PBL) and how to set up and link between PBL and comprehensive CBR.
  
CBM is also in partnership with Health Departments and hospitals aiming to establish sustainable community eye and ear care services through capacity development, networking  and advocacy.
