A donation of Non Cash Resources (NCRs) were provided by CBM Canada to orthopaedic and rehabilitation projects, as well as other health care projects in Madagascar which arrived in February and March 2016.

A donation of 16 595 items of Non Cash Resources (NCRs) were provided by CBM Canada to orthopaedic and rehabilitation projects, as well as other health care projects in Madagascar, totaling (CAD) $157 281, 38. The NCRs were sent from Canada in two containers of 40 feet that arrived in February and March 2016 in Madagascar.

The donation includes 65 different kinds of medical and orthopaedic equipment and consumables, such as rehabilitation training stairs, walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs, bath chairs, and assorted orthoses, braces, specialized orthopaedic stand. The medical and surgery equipment feature surgical lights, examining tables, infant incubators, IV extension set, hospital beds and mattresses, linen, medical uniforms, and others.
The NCRs were donated to CBM projects, such as DROP MADA, ENT Clinic and eye care Clinics, CBRs FANILO and MERCI, and the Ophthalmology Paediatric unit, HJRA.

A ceremony was organized on 13 June 2016 at the Ministry of Heath for the official handing over of the NCRs donation to CBM supported projects. The ceremony was well attended with the presence of the Minister of Health, the Representatives of partners in relevant CBM supported projects, and the CBM Country Office team.

Since 1981, CBM was present in Madagascar in support to projects aimed to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities. Through its new country plan 2016-2019, CBM is developing new multiyear plans in the areas of eye care (MAHITA), ENT (MAHENO), vocational training and livelihood (MIHARY), inclusive education and special needs education (MAHAY), and mainstreaming disabilities (TOMADY).
