CBM’s Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region develops sustainable and effective strategies and programmes in the field of disability and development. We cooperate with local partner organisations, persons with disabilities and their representative organisations, national governments and regional stakeholders.

In line with CBM's global strategy the Regional Office Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) is cooperating with 34 partner organisations, supporting 60 programmes in North Africa (Egypt and Morocco) and West Asia (Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, Palestine - Gaza and West Bank, Tajikistan and Yemen).

Our activities are focussing on five themes: Inclusion, inclusive comprehensive primary and secondary health care, inclusive education, inclusive livelihood and community-based inclusive development.

Our objectives

  • To contribute to achieving the goals of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by ensuring the inclusiveness of CBM`s work in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
  • To contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals by developing and implementing strategies, initiatives and good practice models for inclusive, comprehensive Primary Health Care
  • To develop internal and regional capacities in the area of inclusive education and inclusive livelihood and develop evidence of good practice
  • To contribute to closing structural regional gaps in terms of research and knowledge management, regional human resource development and material resource development
