I want to volunteer in a CBM Partner project or Regional Office. What should I do?
CBM does not as a general rule offer volunteer work as a component of its overseas programmes. There exist, however, very limited and occasional volunteering opportunities within CBM Member Associations (Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland, UK and USA). You can contact them directly through our Member Associations page.
Longer-term jobs with CBM generally fall into one of two categories: a contract for an assignment overseas (work in the field) or a job assignment (also contracted) with a CBM Member Association. Therefore, a time-limited assignment in a CBM-supported programme and/or Regional Office or work in one of the Member Association are the two main routes for employment.
The conditions required to begin the employment process for CBM overseas are: a respective request of a partner organisation or identification of need by the Regional Office, formal qualifications matching the requirements of the post, and success at interview stage.
For more information on overseas assignments, please visit the CBM Jobs and Vacancies page. Any speculative field volunteering enquiries should be addressed to the respective Regional Office.
Please note that CBM also offers a yearly scholarship, The Joseph Taylor Scholarship, to Christian medical elective students working in a hospital in Africa with an ophthalmology component. To find out more about the scholarship and how to apply for a Joseph Taylor elective grant, or to download an application form, please see www.cbmuk.org.uk/josephtaylor, or email .
