Jordan's promotion of disability rights is exemplary
Even as it is not a CBM focal country based on its ranking in the human development index (HDI), our presence in Jordan is based on its strategic location, the networking potential and good regional training possibilities.
Jordan is referred to by the international community as the leading nation in the Arab World regarding promotion of disability rights. Jordan’s international and regional leadership on disability rights was recognised in 2005 when Jordan received the Franklin Delano Roosevelt International Disability Award. The Jordanian royal family plays a crucial and supportive role in disability assistance in Jordan.
Jordan has signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as well as the optional protocol and ratified the convention in March 2008.
