Networks between CBM Regional Offices and the different partner organisations, governments, Disabled Peoples’ Organisations (DPOs), and other Non-Governmental Organisations in the field allows us to share expertise and learn from each other.
Dialogue
The dialogue between these experienced networks allows for advocacy by like-minded organisations all speaking with one voice to the government and international donors.
Some examples of CBM's work through Alliances are:
- CBM, the WHO and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) were founding members of “VISION 2020: the Right to Sight,” a programme to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020.
- CBM supports “WWHearing”, an international initiative for the provision of affordable hearing aids in low income countries. The founding organisations of WWHearing include governments, NGOs, users and manufacturers of hearing aids, professionals, donors, academic centres and international bodies.
- At the global level, a WHO-led and CBM-supported initiative is developing Guidelines for Community-based Rehabilitation. These Guidelines explain the five major elements in CBR – health, education, livelihood, social life and empowerment.
