CBM supports in opening a new ophthalmology training centre on 9th April 2010 in Conakry, Guinea.
The right to sight
A new eye medical and training facility co-financed by CBM, the West Africa Health Organization (WAHO) and SightSavers was inaugurated on 9th April 2010 in Conakry, Guinea.
The facility, named CADESSO (Centre d’Application de DESSO) was opened in the presence of, amongst others, Guinea Ministers of Health and Education, CBM West Africa Regional Director and Training Officer, Representatives of Sightsavers, the West Africa College of Surgeons (WACS) and the Regional Director of WAHO.
Based on the WACS (West African College of Surgeons) model of training middle level eye care specialists to man secondary healthcare facilities in the region with a view to achieving VISION2020’s goal, 'The Right to Sight', the programme offers the Diplome d'Etude Superieure Specialisee D' Ophtalmologie (DESSO) to applicants from French speaking countries of Africa and from other countries of the world.
