South Africa
CBM South Africa is CBM’s newest Member Association. CBM believes that the time is now right for South Africans to become more involved in issues related to poverty and disability in this emerging African Country. CBM South Africa hopes to raise funds, support disabled persons’ organisations in advocacy campaigns, and develop new programmes to provide direct help to persons with disability who are also struggling with poverty.

CBM in South Africa
Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town is a good example of CBM's work in South Africa. Under the leadership of Prof. Colin Cook this program focuses on eye care services for the poor in Cape Town and also trains eye care professionals for Southern Africa.
CBM supports the work of the National Council for the Blind which includes providing cataract surgery for low-income people in Limpopo Province.
CBM has also recently taken on the support of two community based programs in informal settlements in Cape Town. This provides training and support for mothers with disabled children (mostly with cerebral palsy) living in the most impoverished communities in South Africa.
