From January 2000 to mid-2006, Stephen Allford from the UK worked for CBM in Yaoundé, Cameroon, where he managed a school for blind children. In cooperation with CBM's partner Promhandicam he developed the school into a Community Based Rehabilitation programme. In addition, he was responsible for evaluating projects in Cameroon with which CBM has signed partnership agreements.
Since the summer of 2006, Stephen Allford has been working at the Regional Office in Lomé, Togo, where he is responsible for partner empowerment.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
