Marjolein Balthussen went to Cameroon in 2001 as a voluntary helper at a CBM project for six months. In 2002 she sold her thriving physiotherapy practice in Holland to move to Africa.
In 2003, she initially did a six-week course in Kampala, Uganda, visited projects in Nigeria and now works in northern Ghana, where she is helping to set up an orthopaedic project with a physiotherapy department. On assignments in northern Ghana and southern Burkina Faso, she advises employees of Community Based Rehabilitation projects. With her work, she helps children with physical disabilities, in particular, to live more independent lives.
