Paul Caswell from the UK, who studied civil engineering at London University, has lived and worked in Africa since the age of 21.
In 1984, he went to Tamou and Niamey, Niger, as an agricultural instructor for persons with disabilities and a Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) expert.
Since 1994, Paul Caswell has been Coordinator of the CBM Country Office in Nigeria. He is a member of the CBM Advisory Working Group on Vocational Training/Employment for People with Disabilities. He also acts as CBR Advisor to the West Africa region.
In Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours List 2005, Paul Caswell received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his work in West Africa.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
