Dr Julian Eaton, a British psychiatrist, is Mental Health Advisor for the West Africa region. His main task is to support the establishment of a psychosocial service within CBM's community-based rehabilitation programmes. Beyond this, he will also be working with government agencies and other institutions to create societal awareness of the needs of marginal groups in need of mental healthcare and to improve the standards of existing psychosocial services.
Dr Eaton and his wife Polly, an ergotherapist, have a little son. Before this assignment, they had already lived and worked in southeast Nigeria and feel pretty much at home in this country.
