Project: Community-based rehabilitation programme
German agricultural engineer and rehabilitation expert Eckhard Kern has been working for CBM in Africa since 1987.
After living in Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Zaire and Cameroon, his path in life took him to Zambia, where he has been in charge of a community-based rehabilitation programme in the capital Lusaka since 2002. This programme is primarily meant to assist disabled people in the poor quarters of the city.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
