Dr Amde-Michael Ketema, an eye doctor of Ethiopian origin who is a citizen of Luxembourg, has been working in Africa for CBM since 1997.
From 1997 to mid-2000, he was responsible for blindness prevention and eye surgery at a community-based rehabilitation (CBR) programme for people with disabilities in Niamey/Niger.
Since then, he has been employed in Dabou, Côte d'Ivoire, where he is Medical Director of the Eye Department at the Protestant Hospital. As well as performing surgery, he is particularly committed to training national eye doctors.
Besides these duties, he regularly conducts surgical assignments at the CBR programme in Gagnoa.
