Project: Community Based Rehabilitation programme
A physiotherapist from Belgium who was born in the former Zaire and grew up in Burundi, Erwin Telemans has been working for CBM since 1995.
His first assignment was to set up a rehabilitation programme for physically impaired refugees at Goma refugee camp (Zaire/DR Congo). He then worked for several years at an orthopaedic institution in Khartoum, Sudan, then in Kigali/Rwanda at a community-based rehabilitation project.
From May 2004 to autumn 2006, he was employed in Nairobi at the Regional Office for Central Africa.

Since October 2006, he has been in charge of the comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation programme in Dar es Salaam/Tanzania, set up by Geert Vanneste.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
