Dr Albrecht Hennig from Germany is one of CBM's longest-serving eye doctors.
He has been living and working since 1983 in Lahan/Nepal, where he has helped to make Sagarmatha Choudary Eye Hospital the biggest and best eye hospital in the country. In 2004 alone, he and his team performed more than 48,000 cataract operations.
In addition to his surgical duties, he holds numerous basic and further training courses for eye doctors from Nepal and India.
Dr Hennig developed the fishhook technique, a sutureless cataract surgery procedure that has meanwhile been adopted throughout the world.
Since 1987, Dr Hennig has also acted as Medical Eye Care Advisor to CBM.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
