Anita Smeets, originally from Belgium, currently works and lives in Burundi. On behalf of CBM Regional Office she coordinates projects in the Great Lakes Region (Burundi, Rwanda, Eastern DR Congo). Anita’s range of duties involve working with partners on the monitoring and evaluation of projects and on the development of new projects according to CBM strategy. Moreover, Ms Smeets networks with other NGO’s and government bodies involved in the field of disability in this region to ensure coherent and consistent plan of action.
Anita Smeets started at CBM in January 2006. Prior to taking on the challenges of development cooperation, she had worked as an investment banker.
Anita lives in Burundi with her husband Johan.
