Informationen: The Mangu Leprosy and Rehabilitation Centre is owned by the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN). It is situated in a densely populated rural area of Plateau State in central Nigeria. Two national ophthalmologists, trained through the Anglophone Diploma of Ophthalmology (DO) programme, are providing comprehensive medical eye care services to a large region. Most patients are suffering from cataract and glaucoma. The eye unit is housed in a building that was constructed with CBMI-USA funds. A community based rehabilitation (CBR) programme is also part of the project. Further, the hospital caters to leprosy and orthopaedic patients, who are assisted by a visiting CBM-supported orthopaedic surgical team from the Rehabilitation Hospital Mkar.
