Projektname: The Salvation Army Oji River Children's Home
Projekt-Beschreibung: CBR Programme / Service
for Multiple Disabled
People
Ort: Nigeria, Oji River
Informationen: The Salvation Army Oji River Children's Home, in the past a rehabilitation centre for physically disabled children, is now involved in comprehensive community based rehabilitation (CBR) services. It is located in a small town in Enugu State in the southeast of Nigeria and provides orthopaedic surgery and medical rehabilitation. Some children are integrated into regular schools during their rehabilitation period. In addition to the orthopaedic outreach from Mkar, the ophthalmologist from Mkar Eye Department visits the facility for medical eye care services. A new eye unit has been constructed and two wards renovated for eye patients. The project has trained two CBR fieldworkers whose salaries are supported by the Salvation Army. The partner's field officers are trained at the project to identify and refer patients.
