EU-Commissioner experienced three minutes of blindness for CBM
European Development Days
The EU-Commissioner for Development, Louis Michel, visited CBM’s interactive exhibition on Thursday at the 'European Development Days' conference, which took place on 15-17th November at the Heizel stadium in Brussels.
Louis Michel donned the glasses which gave him an experience of what it would be like to have cataract, and then went through the obstacle course using his white cane.
Louis Michel was impressed by the exhibition. He stated that he could never have imagined what it would be like to have a visual impairment before going through the obstacle course. Michel said he was committed to address disability in his dialogue with partner countries.
Louis Michel invited CBM to discuss with him in person how disability can be included in EU development Cooperation policy.

Enhance Awareness About Development Cooperation
The European Development Days took place for the first time on the initiative of the EU Commission. This year’s focus was on the African continent. The European Development Days mark the beginning of a process aiming at enhancing public awareness about development cooperation and strengthening the effectiveness of the European Union's development assistance.
