In his new role as vice president of human resources at CBM, Rüdiger Wenzel aspires to apply the principle of consistency in CBM's values to his dealings with staff within the organisation.

Rüdiger, a former global head of human resources private and business clients at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, took on the position of vice president human resources at CBM in Bensheim in January 2007. He will be responsible for a growing team of CBM staff.

"Within CBM, we should be consistent with our values, not only in the course of our daily work, but also when dealing with our own staff," says Rüdiger, who employs 60 staff in Germany and approximately 120 expatriates overseas.

Rüdiger's experience as head of the project management office for the German team for human resources at Deutsche Bank will help him in his new position at CBM, the international orientation of which requires a stronger emphasis on staff development.

CBM aims to prepare all parts of the organisation for its overall goal of reaching many more persons with disabilities in developing countries by the year 2010. At present, CBM's partner organisations reach out to 2 per cent or 12m of the poorest people with disabilities worldwide.

Since 1908, CBM has supported partner organisations in 113 middle- and low-income countries in the provision of medical services and rehabilitation and training of persons with disabilities.
