CBM aims to improve the quality of life of many more persons with disability who live in poor areas of the world assisting them to access medical, education and rehabilitation services as well as livelihood opportunities.

To achieve this goal, the CBM strategy consists of:

  • Emphasis on the enablement of partner organisations in low income countries. This comprises the transfer of a portfolio of knowledge and skills including professional and management skills; governance and human resource development as well as fundraising skills. The aim is strong enabled partners who deliver affordable and good quality services to persons with disabilities, thereby facilitating sustainable development in these underserved communities.
  • Working with like minded organisations and agencies including UN bodies, governments, large general development NGOs, church institutions, and Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) so as to create synergies in service delivery, and policies for inclusion and equal opportunities for people with disability.
  • The development of CBM staff, optimizing the tremendous knowledge, skills and experience in CBM’s nearly 500 staff for the overall goal of the organisation.
  • Creating improved organisation systems and efficient ways of working.
  • Improved internal and external communication, and better management of the knowledge which exists within and outside the organisation.

To achieve that CBM can work in more needy areas of the world and with a wider mandate truly encompassing all types of disability, sensory, motor and mental - it is part of the strategy that CBM doubles its income.
