Project Information: St. Joseph's Eye Clinic, a minor medical eye care project with a small scale optical workshop, is owned by the Catholic diocese of Ogoja and based in a small town on the Nigerian border with Cameroon in the south of the country. Apart from providing services to patients with cataract and glaucoma, one junior national ophthalmologist is conducting outreach to a number of locations in the area. The senior ophthalmologist has been away from the project most of the year and it is doubtful that she will return. It is expected that only the junior DO will continue to run the programme.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
