| Project Information: | The Rural Health Programme of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) is situated in a very dry region in the extreme Northeast of the country and serves a rural population with few health facilities. Trachoma, apart from cataract and glaucoma, is a major problem. Presently, eye surgical services are provided by a national ophthalmologist from the nearby government hospital on a contract basis. Regular visits are made by the senior ophthalmologist from Mangu Rehabilitation Hospital until a doctor, in training right now to become an ophthalmologist, is expected to return in April 2007 to provide full time medical eye care services. |
