Project Information: The Marist Rehabilitation Centre Hopeville, which has a mobile eye and optical service, is owned by the Marist Brothers of the Schools, a Catholic order in Nigeria. The project is located in rural Okigwe, Imo State in the southeast of the country. In addition to producing aphakic and other spectacles for projects throughout Nigeria, it is also a centre for medical eye care and outreach. Eye surgery is provided by the CBM supported ophthalmologist from Mkar as well as the State ophthalmogist from Delta State.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
