Project Information: Ruharo Eye Unit is a tertiary eye unit in western Uganda. Training of ophthalmic assistants and theatre nurses is provided for other eye programs in the country. An expatriate co-worker was posted to the program in 2003 that has initiated a low vision program. The unit provide outreach services to several other eye programs in western Uganda.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
