Project Information: The NKST Leprosy and Rehabilitation Hospital, situated in the middle belt of Nigeria, is a referral orthopaedic facility for a large area of the country. Surgical outreach service to nine CBM supported projects and one non-CBM project, continues to be a key component. The infrastructure, although very modest, has all the necessary facilities for a comprehensive orthopaedic programme. The hospital also continues to provide services for leprosy patients. Courses for physiotherapy assistants, orthopaedic aids technicians and orthopaedic nurses are organised at the centre. This is an AUSAID funded project.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
