Ranchi, capital of Jharkhand, about 15 kms from the airport managed by the Seventh-Day Adventists through the Adventist Health International India Trust at Pune, Maharashtra. A large general hospital where CBM supports comprehensive community eye care services through the eye department. Population is predominantly tribal, and lives below the poverty line. Eye services are provided mostly at the base hospital. Partner has other training programmes (Nursing, Lab Tech, Medical Records etc). The ophthalmologist is the Secretary to the State Vision 2020 Committee and important to CBM's involvement in Jharkhand. |

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
