Berhampur, district Ganjam in Orissa, about 70 kms from Bhubaneshwar airport. An eye hospital managed by Emmanuel Community Ophthalmic Services (ECOS). It serves a population of about 1.5 million in a needy, tribal area. CBM has provided inputs for the complete infrastructure and the project is now capable of providing high volume cataract surgeries of very good quality, besides latest laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy. The hospital has been recognised by the Government of Orissa as a training centre. |

World Health Organization thanks CBM for its outstanding work
CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
