Location: India North, Delhi-New (Delhi)

Project Information: Sheikh Sarai, Delhi, 20 kms from the International airport. Venu Charitable Society is the partner. The project is a well established tertiary eye hospital and research centre. Over the years, with assistance from CBM, a ring of satellite secondary eye hospitals was established around Delhi in the States of Uttar Pradesh Haryana. Recently Uttaranchal has also been taken up for provision of comprehensive eye care services in cooperation with CBM the State Government. It also has an eye bank. CBM supports paediatric ophthalmology and low vision services. A tertiary Low Vision Centre is being established by CBM for clinical evaluation, surgical intervention and rehabilitation after provision of assistive devices. The project also runs training courses for ophthalmologists and paramedics. A training hostel has been provided by CBM.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
