Project Information: This program includes both an ophthalmic and CBR program component and is headed by a CBM co-worker. The ophthalmic services have seen rapid growth. A resident national ophthalmologist is head of the department supported by two CBM expatriate ophthalmologists. A clinical and surgical outreach program in a 5-district area is well established. Construction of new theatre and ward was supported in 2005 through funding from BMZ. The CBR program provides home based rehabilitation services. Some 600 epileptic patients are supported with drug therapy. The program is also a part of a strong network enabling the referral / follow-up of clients needing neuro, orthopaedic, and plastic surgery. A private tricycle production workshop produces 400 tricycles annually.
