Location: India North, Purulia (West Bengal)
Project Information: Purulia, West Bengal, 120 kms East of Ranchi in Jharkhand. A well equipped general hospital of the Leprosy Mission in India (TLM) with an integrated eye unit. The hospital site was once part of a huge lepra colony which gradually migrated once the affected family members passed on and the next generation was not infected. At present not a single such a family is resident; however, vast areas of good agricultural land belonging to the Mission are lying vacant and unutilised. Purulia has a large No. of other major service providers supported by SSI and other INGOs.
