| Project Information: | All components of a broad-based rehabilitation program have been developed within this general hospital setting, which include a CBR program, rehabilitation centre, physical therapy department, orthopaedic workshop, orthopaedic surgical services, plastic/reconstructive surgery(visiting surgeon) and an eye department. A national orthopaedic surgeon on site since 2005 and a national ophthalmologist will start her duties from January 2007. Through BMZ co-funding an eye ward and OPD were constructed in 2005 and a 10 km long overland water supply line to the hospital and surrounding communities was initiated and funded through CBM in 2005. External evaluation took place in 2004. This hospital and disability program is very important for the communities in East Uganda and collaborates well with other CBM supported programs (Butiru and TOOC). |
