Location: India North, Siliguri (West Bengal)
Project Information: Siliguri, district Darjeeling in the northern part of West Bengal, approximately 20 kms from the nearest airport at Bagdogra. This project is managed by the North Bengal Council for the Disabled (NBCD). The school provides all round educational and vocational training to handicapped persons of educable ages with cross and mulitple disabilities. Teachers have recognised qualifications and the programme is run in conformity with Government norms and policies. Available Government funding is also being accessed. The programme actively stresses on disabled women and girl children.

CBM President Professor Allen Foster met with World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, for the WHO's global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight” on the eve of World Sight Day 2007 at the WHO's headquarters.
