Project Information: The 36-bed St. Mary's Catholic Eye Hospital, owned by the diocese of Ijebu-Ode, is situated in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State in southwest Nigeria. It is close to the outskirts of Lagos, Nigeria's largest megacity. A national consultant ophthalmologist is attached to centre, which is accredited for the Diploma of Ophthalmology training with the West African Post Graduate Medical College. It has the potential of developing into a high volume referral hospital. Presently, a DO trainee is in his first year of training and expected to return to the project in 2008.
