Project Information: The Instituto de la Visión Sureste is located in Comalcalco, district of Cunduacán, in the South Eastern state of Tabasco, Mexico. The Adventist International Eye Society of Mexico (AIES) started this prevention of blindness programme so as to make the state of Tabasco with a population of 2 million people, a zone free of treatable blindness. Most patients in Comalcalco come from a poor socio-economic background. Apart from consolidating this programme for low cost good quality eye care, cooperation with the University of Montemorelos with regard to a residency programme is taking place. Furthermore, affordable eye glasses are provided and for the future it is planned to start a low vision programme.

CBM conducts first Training of Trainers Workshop on Accessibility

CBM’s SARO(S) Regional Office has conducted CBM’s first Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on Accessibility. The training, held from 1st to 3rd February 2009 at Mobility India in Bangalore, will ensure that more resource people are available to train others in inclusive and barrier-free environments.
