Serango, a part of Parlakhemundi in district Ganjam, Orissa, borders the northern tip of Andhara Pradesh. The nearest airport is at Vishakapatnam, about 5 hours away by road. It is an old mission hospital where an eye unit was earlier constructed by CBM with co-funding from Round Table Germany (RTD). The project is managed by Council of Christian Hospitals (COCH) located at Vishakapatnam. CBM supports comprehensive community eye care services though the eye department which is located a short distance away from the main hospital. The project serves the hilly and largely tribal areas and poor population (approx 2.5 million) of the plains below. |
