Project Information: This component of the Rwanda National Plan for Blindness Prevention covers four northern and western Provinces of Byumba, Ruhengeri, Gisenyi and Kibuye. The project's main objective is to ensure the provision of effective, accessible and affordable ophthalmic services targeting all persons suffering from avoidable blindness or severe visual impairment in the target area. The strategy used involves the development of human resources and the provision equipment, consumables and medicines to eye units in district hospitals. Four main hospital in each of the four provinces are being continually equipped with a fully functional eye unit while 160 Community Health Centres (CHCs) will be provided with basic Opthalmology equipment and medicines.

CBM conducts first Training of Trainers Workshop on Accessibility

CBM’s SARO(S) Regional Office has conducted CBM’s first Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on Accessibility. The training, held from 1st to 3rd February 2009 at Mobility India in Bangalore, will ensure that more resource people are available to train others in inclusive and barrier-free environments.
