How We Work

Partner Development A Growing Field of CBM's Work

CBM has developed guidelines and working principles, setting a framework for CBM and its partner organisations. Important issues in ongoing discussions and developments on the global policy and development cooperation agenda are considered in the process of developing and revising CBM’s policies.

As CBM does not implement, but rather supports, projects that are run by local partner organisations, partner enablement is a major and growing field of CBM’s work, comprising

  • Professional support to offer services for people with disabilities,
  • Organisation and management techniques,
  • Information on lobbying techniques to ensure the inclusion of disability into national programmes, and
  • Know-how concerning advocacy measures to make sure that the rights of persons with disabilities are considered.

Support for Partners

Support for partners is provided by:

  • CBM’s Regional Offices, offering training measures and assistance in human resource development as well as professional and management skills.
  • Seconded experts, providing professional assistance to project staff and other specialists in the country.
  • Advisors, who visit partner organisations and their projects and give professional recommendations in accordance with CBM’s policies.

On the national and international levels, it is essential to do lobbying and advocacy work for the rights and needs of persons with disabilities.

By these means, CBM aims to contribute to the development of truly inclusive communities and societies of which persons with disabilities are an integral part.
