In 2005, 116 experts were sent out to partner organisations supported by CBM. Among them were 32 ophthalmologists; 6 orthopaedic surgeons; and 2 ear, nose, and throat specialists. In addition, eye nurses, physiotherapists, and other experts worked overseas for CBM. The coworkers came from Western and Eastern Europe, the U.S., Africa, Asia and Pacific.

A precondition for sending out professional personnel is that the partner requests this kind of support. An expert is sent out if there is no possibility of recruiting the needed specialist within the country itself. Priority is given to postings where it is possible to train national staff.

Main Objectives

CBM coworkers serve as professional coaches for experts and voluntary personnel, both within the project itself or nationwide. The trained specialists pass on their knowledge to further generations of medical, educational, or rehabilitation staff. This leads to a multiplying and long-lasting effect and thus contributes to the sustainability of CBM’s work.

  • Capacity building and the enablement of CBM’s partner organisations is enhanced by further training by CBM coworkers.
  • The provision of quality services is ensured in accordance with the latest developments in CBM's policies.

Global Recruiting

CBM aims to be a truly global organisation. Therefore, it is a major goal of CBM to further enhance the percentage of staff being hired in developing countries.

If you wish to become a coworker yourself, please refer to the information provided on the jobs page.
