Education for All Children - Global Campaign Launched

A global campaign to ensure that boys and girls who are visually impaired and live in low income countries enjoy their right to education was launched in July 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The campaign was initiated by the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI).

Every 5 seconds one person in the world goes blind, and a child goes blind every minute. Since 75% of all blindness is either preventable or treatable, the global initiative VISION 2020 aims to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020.

New Campaign To Include Persons With Disabilities In Fight Against AIDS

This new global initiative, called "WWHearing—World Wide Hearing Care for Developing Countries", was created in 2003. Its mission is to promote better hearing through the provision of hearing aids and services.

Following the 8.8-magnitude earthquake with epicentre close to the Chilean city of Concepción and aftershocks, CBM will support its Partner in the region. CBM has one Partner Project in need of reconstruction, located in Concepción, the country's second largest city.
