The Fundación Dr. Oswaldo Loor Moreira (FOLM) runs an eye clinic which provides eye care services to the poor and underserved population of Portoviejo and rural surroundings in the Province of Manabi at the Pacific coast of Ecuador.

2,706 eye surgeries (1,268 cataracts) were carried out in 2008. Outreach campaigns are also conducted to detect cataract patients in the community as well as a school screening programme. A rehabilitation programme for visually impaired adults is
attached to FOLM.
