This vocational training and job placement programme is run by local NGO, 'Fundación Cuesta Holguín', in Ambato, Central Ecuador, for people with all types of disabilities.
The programme aims to increase the quality of life of people with disabilities through integration into family, community and the labour market.
An important component of the programme is the promotion of awareness on the disability and the rights of persons with disabilities. In 2008, 89 disabled people were placed in jobs 90% of whom are satisfied with their jobs.
The placement of disabled disabled into the formal and informal labour market is a major challenge in Ecuador and other countries of the region.
