Instituto Psicopedagógico 'Juana Leclerc'
- School for mentally disabled children
The 'Instituto Psicopedagógico Juana Leclerc' is located in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. It consists of a very good programme for mentally disabled children from poor families providing centre-based preschool and primary education, as well as a community based rehabilitation programme.
Pre-vocational training workshops (spices production, carpentry, bakery, organic fertilizer production) are an important part of the curriculum, offering young adults possibilities to be integrated into the local labour market.
A one-year diploma course RIC (Rehabilitación Integral en la Comunidad) has successfully been carried out all over the country in the past few years. Futhermore, the centre plays an increasing role in training of personnel from other organisations all over the country as well as on a regional level.
