Ear care services in Siraha District and adjoining Districts in Nepal were not available. Therefore, a large number of people in this area particularly the poorest of the poor were suffering from ear diseases and hearing impairment.
The project aims at addressing this issue by reducing avoidable disability in general and hearing impairment and deafness in particularly in Siraha District as well as in other adjoining Districts such as Saptari, Udayapur and Dhanusha. The Project focuses on providing preventive, curative and rehabilitative ear care services in the project areas.
IMPACT Nepal, a national level NGO, is implementing this project in close collaboration with CBM and Sagarmatha Chaudhary Eye Hospital (SCEH), Lahan to provide primary ear and hearing care services through Mobile Ear clinics in community and secondary level services through PECC and tertiary level care through mobile surgery camps in SCEH, Lahan. It also provides preventive ear care services and awareness programmes through outreach camps.
