About the partner
The Saint Boniface Haiti Foundation is a non-profit organisation with headquarters in Randolph, MA (USA) and a field office in Fond des Blancs that has been working in Haiti for over 25 years to support the St. Boniface Hospital. Its primary mission is to provide health care to the poor of Haiti in the southern and south-eastern departments.

Saint Boniface’s health programmes consist of a 60-bed hospital with in-patient facilities, Villa Clinic, and a myriad of community-oriented health activities (outreach services, vaccination campaigns, initial and further training of community health helpers).

The hospital secures basic medical care for the local population. A small fee is charged for medical services, though extremely poor patients are exempted from paying fees.

St. Boniface also works in the areas of education and community development.

SCI patients have a low life expectancy in resource poor settings. The St. Boniface Hospital is one of only two rehabilitation centres that offers support for this particularly vulnerable population in all of Haiti.

St. Boniface is the only site to which hospitals in the capital and southern regions of Haiti can refer patients with SCI to ensure survival of these patients, while also providing rehabilitative therapy to ensure better independence for patients upon discharge.
