CBM Italy president receives top award

Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award

June 2013 - Mario R. Angi MD, President of CBM Italy, has received the 2013 'Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award' from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. This award was designed to recognise Academy members who have demonstrated a pattern of humanitarian service in the United States or abroad.

CBM congratulates Mr Angi - this award is just recognition of his commitment to Prevention of Blindness around the world over many years. He was nominated by the Societá Oftalomologica Italiana, and it will be formally recognised during the Opening Session of the Academy's Annual Meeting from 16–19 Nov in New Orleans.

Mr Angi, who has been President of CBM Italy since 2002, is Professor of Ophthalmology at Padova University. Prior to working for CBM he has worked on eye projects in several locations in Africa and Latin America.
