Read about CBM and community mental health

What services does CBM offer other than for persons who are blind or have visual impairments?

CBM’s mandate is broad and has an emphasis on partnership and local capacity development. It encompasses reducing the incidence of preventable impairments and conditions causing disability in low-income countries, while supporting the empowerment of people with disabilities.

Alongside blindness prevention this mandate includes hearing, orthopaedic work, Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), Community Mental Health and low vision, amongst other areas. A global network of professional experts supports our partners in the field in a holistic approach to disability. This considers health, rehabilitation, advocacy and empowerment, education and livelihood opportunities.
