Trachoma is the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness. Ethiopia carries a significant proportion of the global burden of trachoma. CBM is supporting the local, Ethiopian NGO Grarbet Tehadiso Mahber (GTM) in conducting two trachoma projects. The overall objective of the projects is to contribute towards the national goal of eliminating blinding trachoma by 2020 and contributing to the achievement of alleviation of poverty as per the MDG goals.
The general objective of this final evaluation is to assess the extent to which the two projects have contributed towards elimination of trachoma amongst the population in the target districts of SNNPR.
The evaluation will be supported with additional population-based impact surveys to assess the prevalence of TF and TT 6 months after the last MDA in the following districts: Sankura, Silti and Marko (CBM-D supported) and Dalocha and Lanfuro (CBM-I supported). These surveys will be conducted through the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.
The evaluation team ideally shall include a person with disability or a member of a DPO, community or self-help group and should consist of 2 experts. Find more details in the document below.
