Kirsty Smith joined CBM UK as Chief Executive in 2012. She has over 25 years’ experience in the development sector.
Kirsty has previously held key posts with a variety of international development agencies, most recently as Chief Executive for All We Can, an agency focused on strengthening the organisational and programmatic capacity of local organisations in lower income countries. She has also worked as International Campaigns Director for the Methodist Church, lecturer, and in a range of programme management, training, fundraising and advocacy roles in UK and extensively in lower income countries. With a background in organisational and strategy development, facilitation and training, her focus has been on participatory community development approaches which try to address systemic causes of poverty and support marginalised communities and individuals to have increased voice and decision making power.
Kirsty has held a number of Trustee roles, including as Vice Chair of BOND, the UK membership body for NGOs working in International Development, from 2008 to 2011. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in French and a Master of Arts in International Development, is married with two children and lives in Cambridge, UK.
